PURPOSE:To obtain the titled substance useful as an adhesion promoter for a room temperature-curing organosiloxane composition and an additive in an organosiloxane composition for fiber treatment in high yield, by heating a specific isocyanic acid ester in the presence of a basic catalyst CONSTITUTION:An isocyanic acid ester expressed by formula I (R<1> represents monovalent 1-4C hydrocarbon group; n is 0 or 1) [example; 3-(dimethoxymethylsilyl)propyl isocyanate, etc.] is heat-treated without any solvent or in a hydrocarbon based nonpolar solvent (example; benzene, toluene, etc.) in the presence of a basic catalyst expressed by the formula MOR<2> (R<2> represents H or monovalent 1-5C hydrocarbon group; M represents alkali metal) (example; potassium t-butoxide, etc.) preferably at 100-130 deg.C to afford the aimed compound expressed by formula II.
