PURPOSE:To improve the data transfer efficiency by discriminating the continuity of an area and controlling a system so that the processing is performed with one input/output request as long as the area is continuous. CONSTITUTION:A data processing system constitutes the input/output control system between a file storage device like a magnetic disk device 6 and a main storage device 4, and its processor 1 is provided with an input/output processing part 2 and a space management part 3. When a user program issues an input/ output instruction, the input/output processing part 2 of the processor 1 detects pages of the input/output area on a logical address space and the space management part 3 checks whether these pages are continuous on the physical address space of the main storage device 4 to issue a prescribed input/output request. When the input/output processing part 2 issues the input/output request, data transfer is performed between the disk device 6 and the main storage device 4 by DMA.
