PURPOSE:To simply and continuously measure the horizontal displacement of an underground drilling machine, by arranging a pair of measuring systems each measuring the horizontal displacement of the underground drilling machine so as to hold the obstruction present on the surface of the ground in a drilling direction therebetween. CONSTITUTION:A pair of measuring systems, which measure the horizontal displacement of an underground drilling machine 1 with respect to a drilling execution projected line 12 by the magnetic induction action between the loop-shaped signal wires 9a, 9b laid along the projection line 12 and the pillot head 2 provided to the leading end of the underground drilling machine 1, are arranged so as to hold the obstruction 10, for example, the rail present on the surface of the ground in a drilling direction therebetween. The measuring systems are connected by a radio circuit and the horizontal displacement of the drilling machine 1 along the projection line 12 containing the presence action of the obstruction 10 is measured by the cooperation of the measuring systems. By this constitution, the measuring systems measure the induced voltage generated by the magnetic induction action between the signal wires 9a, 9b and the head 2 and the horizontal displacement of the defense range of each system is measured on the basis of said voltage and, when the drilling machine 1 is positioned under the obstruction 10 on the surface of the ground, the horizontal displacement of the drilling machine is measured by the measuring systems cooperated by information transmission due to the radio circuit. |
