PURPOSE:To increase a thermal efficiency, to enable the attainment of recording with low power an to enable the attainment of density gradation recording by means of overstriking by forming the upper part of a heating body of a thermal head in a recessed shape so that a very small quantity of ink be held therein in a recording apparatus wherein heat recording is conducted while ink is filled up minute holes of a film. CONSTITUTION:A cavity 3 in a recessed shape is provided in the upper part of a heating body 2 of a thermal head. A film 4 with ink 6 applied in minute holes 5 and on the rear moves slidably on the top of the thermal head 1, and the ink 6 is held in the recess 3 with the sliding movement of the film 4. The heating body 2 disposed in the upper part of the thermal head 1 is heated arbitrarily by a driving device, a heat is applied to the ink 6 held in the recessed part 3, and thereby an air bubble 7 is produced. With the growth of this air bubble 7, a pressure toward the outside of the air bubble is generated. The ink 6 inside the minute hole 5 positioned above them heating body 2 is jetted outward by this pressure, and thereby recording is conducted on paper or the like which is disposed oppositely. The ink 6 on the rear of the film 4 is supplemented from the part of contact of the film 4 with the thermal head 1 by the surface tension of ink remaining in the recess 3, and therefore the repeated jetting of ink is enabled without making the film 4 slide afresh. |
