PURPOSE:To enhance the external appearance of a wiper device in which a wiper arm is coupled to the output shaft of a torque transmitting means incorporated in a rotatable casing, and to prevent foreign matter from being caught, by covering the casing with a disc-like cover concentric with an input member. CONSTITUTION:In a wiper device, a drive unit (not shown) for converting the rotation of a motor into the extending and retracting motion of a connecting rod swings a sector gear 5 through the intermediary of a joint ball 7, and also swings a wiper arm journalled at one end to an output shaft 32, through the intermediary of a gear box 12. The gear box 12 has an input shaft 10 having at its one end a pinion gear 11 meshed with the sector gear 5, and a substantially triangular housing casing 13 is incorporated integrally with the input shaft 10. The rotation of the input shaft 10 causes the casing 13 to rotate, and therefore, rotates the output shaft 32 through the intermediary of gears 22, 26, 30. In this arrangement, the casing 13 covers the casing 13, concentrically with the input shaft 10.
