PURPOSE:To attain simply and accurately input operation in a short time by tracing a required bar code by a reader so as to input character information in registering the character information such as sender name. CONSTITUTION:An operation panel 10 is provided with a ten-key inputting a telephone number or the like, some function keys and a display device displaying name/number or the like of an operation procedure and a communication opposite party. The registration information such as name of sender and name/telephone number of opposite party is stored in a memory 8. A character generator 9 is used to register/transmit/record/display the name of sender and the name of opposite party. A bar code reader 11 reads a bar code from a bar code list and its output is decoded by a far code decoder 12 and inputted to a CPU 7. The read input is attained by the operation of the keyboard on the operation panel 10.
