PURPOSE:To form a negative power source and improve efficiency by providing a diode and a capacitor in place of a resistor. CONSTITUTION:A boost type converter equipped with a surge suppressor circuit 11-13 is composed of an input capacitor 3, a switching transistor (hereinafter referred to as Tr) 4, a pulse generator 5, an inductor for energy storage 6, an output diode 7 and a capacitor 8, and supplies electricity to a load 9. Said surge suppressor circuit is composed of a capacitor 11, a resistor 12 and a diode 13. In this case, a diode 14 and a capacitor 15 are connected in series and inserted between a junction of the capacitor 11 and diode 13, inserted in series between a collector and emitter of the Tr 4, and an earth side line. Then, a load 16 is connected between both end output terminals 10b-10c of the capacitor 15. Thus, the capacitor 15 is changed through the diode 14 with energy of the capacitor 11 stored when the Tr 4 is turned ON, and said energy is supplied to a load 16.
