PURPOSE:To wind the excess part of an ink ribbon at a high speed by finishing to print one lines of colors, then moving a thermal head to a second position separated from a platen roller, and transmitting a driving force by a rack gear to a winding reel gear by the returning of a carriage to its home position. CONSTITUTION:When an excess part exists at the color of a printed ink ribbon, a thermal head 22 is driven to a second position, and an actuation pin 42 is moved to the second locking surface 45 of a cam body 39. Thus, the head 22 is rotated integrally with a guide shaft 6 in a direction of an arrow (d), and arrived at a second position separated from a platen roller 1 from the intermediate position of the head 22. When a carriage 5 is moved from this position to its home position by a wire 9, a second driving gear 25 is then rotated in a direction designated by an arrow (e), a winding reel gear 20 is rotated in the same direction as that at the time of printing through a first driving gear 24 to wind an ink ribbon. The winding speed of the ribbon 13 is made higher than the winding speed at the time of printing since the thermal head is not contacted with the platen roller. |
