The safety gear is constituted by a sleeve 1 which is fitted to a chain drive 2 coaxially herewith. The tubular sleeve has diametrical recesses 3 in which a piston 4 is displaceable to and fro. It is nevertheless detained in the groove by means of a bolt 6 which is screwed into the piston. The chain drive 2 is fitted vertically so that when the pinion gear rotates upon movement of the lift, for example, the piston 4 joins in the rotation but falls throughout under gravitational effect to assume its lowermost position. This applies as long as the chain drive moves at a moderate speed. Should the speed be increased, then the centrifugal force acting upon the piston will detain this in its projecting position so that it hits against the stop 7 which is arranged over the chain drive. <IMAGE> |
