PURPOSE:To obtain a leuco heat sensitive material having improved whiteness and excellent various resistances by containing in a coloring layer at least one selected from styrene-maleic anhydride copolymer or its salt and styrene- maleic anhydride copolymer ester. CONSTITUTION:In a heat sensitive recording material having a capsule containing leuco colorant, a sensitizer for generating a coloring reaction with the colorant on the same surface of a support, and a protective layer on the coloring layer, the coloring layer contains at least one selected from styrene- maleic anhydride copolymer or its salt and styrene-maleic anhydride copolymer ester. Since a protective layer is provided on the coloring layer, a whitening agent can be added to the protective layer to improve the coating solution stability of the coloring layer and to improve the whiteness of the material. Since the recording layer contains at least one of the styrene-maleic anhydride copolymer or its salt and ester, the bondability of the recording layer to the protective layer is improved, and the water resistance of the protective layer is largely improved. |
