PURPOSE:To manufacture a rust-preventing agent suitable for ferrous metals which are easy to corrode and rust, by preparing a rust-preventing agent containing epoxides of fatty acids. CONSTITUTION:An epoxy radical is introduced to the terminal and/or nearly intermediate unsaturated bond of a fatty acid which is an 8-24C unsaturated higher fatty acid (having double bonds) so as to form epoxide of the fatty acid. Further, it is particularly preferable to use epoxyundecanoic acid as the above epoxide. Since the epoxide of fatty acid is not water-soluble, it is used in the form of amine salt by being added to triethanolamine so that a concentration of about 0.5-5.0wt% is reached. In this way, a novel rust-preventing agent excellent in rust-preventing property can be obtained. |
