FIRE-PROOFING AGENTS FOR POLYURETHANES

1283426 Fire retardant polyurethanes KNAPSACK AG 23 Oct 1970 [10 Nov 1969] 50476/70 Headings C3C and C3R Polyurethanes are fire-proofed by adding to the ingredients from which the polyurethane is formed a blend of: (I) an ammonium polyphosphate in which n has an average value > 10, m#n+2, m/n=0À7 to 1À1 and (II) a tris(haloalkyl)phosphate (C 1-4 alkyl). The weight ratio of I : II may be 90 : 10 to 20 : 80. The blend of I and II may comprise 5-25% by wt. of the mixture of polyurethane forming -ingredients.
