PURPOSE:To enable recording and reading suitable for a transmission type optical recording medium having high recording and reproducible sensitivities, and to enable the recording and reading at a high speed in high S/N by using the recording medium in which a light adsorbing characteristic is anisotropic at a surface, as recording layer, and using linearly poraized light as recording and reading light. CONSTITUTION:In the optical recording in which the writing of information in the recording layer or the reading of the information from the recording layer is effected by irradiating the light, the recording medium in which the light absorption characteristic is anisotropic at the surface, is used as the recording layer, and the linearly linearly porarized light is used as the recording and reading light. Therefore, as the ratio of the optical density before and after writing is enlarged, the lowering of the S/N is controlled. Thus, the writing suitable for the transmission type optical recording medium having high sensitivity is made possible, and pecause the S/N is high, the recording and reading at high speed is made possible. |
