The assembly is made up of a mounting head of a windscreen wiper arm and a covering cap 3 for this head. The cap 3 has a transverse section in the shape of a U whose wings are joined, at one longitudinal end, by a bottom 12. Each wing includes, towards its end remote from the bottom 12, an opening 13 for the passage of the articulation shaft of the arm. The opening 13 emerges, on the outside, opposite the bottom 12 via an inlet passage 14 whose width l is less than the diameter D of the opening 13. The inlet passage 14 is arranged so as to allow the cap to be assembled and removed with respect to the head 1 along a translational movement parallel to the mean plane of the hub, the upper wall 16 of the cap which delimits the opening having, in the region of the wings, a reduced height h to allow an elastic deformation of this wall for the purpose of clipping- in a cylindrical member connected to the head into this opening. The cap 3 includes, on the internal faces of its wings, guidance means J suitable for interacting with means for guiding the translation of the cap with respect to the head which are provided on this head. <IMAGE>
