PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic member having desirable heat resistance optimal for high density recording magnetic heads, by adding a specific amount of Si to a matrix of Fe for producing a material having a high saturation magnetic flux density. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic thin film is provided by an Fe-Si film consisting of 1.5-3.5 % by weight of Si and the remainder of Fe. This Fe-Si film can be produced uniformly by ion beam sputtering. In order to obtain a predetermined coercive force, the Fe-Si film is heat-treated for an appropriate period of time within rotating magnetic field under a vacuum at a temperature 300-600 deg.C. The Fe-Si film is thereby provided with a saturation magnetic flux density of about 20 [KG] or over and desirable soft magnetic properties stable at a temperature of 600 deg.C or over. In this manner, a magnetic member optimal for high density recording magnetic heads or the like requiring a high saturation magnetic flux density can be obtained.
