A first location 10 on the support 1 is corrupted in a way which prevents the subsequent writing of information at this first location 10. Execution of an application program is enabled only in the presence of a support corrupted at the first location. After the corruption has been carried out, the coordinates C of the corruption 2 on the support 1 are determined and information indicative of these coordinates C is written to the support at a second predetermined location 20 different from the first 10. During verification, the coordinates in the second location are searched for, then, according to these coordinates, a search is made as to whether the first location is corrupted. Use for rendering marking more economical, by eliminating the need for physical precision. <IMAGE>
