PURPOSE:To unify a pitch between tracks by moving successively a driving signal, and driving a stepping motor until one special sort of an exciting pattern is obtained after a recording action is completed. CONSTITUTION:When a magnetic head 5 is moved from a head starting position to a step position when a power source is on and a recording command signal is inputted to a control circuit 1, the head 5 is moved for example up to the step position of a fourth track, and thereafter, a spindle motor 3 is rotated and driven. Thereafter, when the motor 3 is in the phase locking condition to rotate at a constant stable speed and by synchronizing to a vertical synchronizing signal from a separating circuit 14, an FM video signal for one field is recorded through the head 5 to a floppy disk 6. Thereafter, the head 5 is moved up to the step position of a first exciting pattern of a group to belong to the exciting pattern of the driving signal of the fourth track.
