This crash barrier for secondary roads is designed to resist impacts from vehicles under the following conditions : mass of the vehicle 1250 kg, impact absorbed at an angle of incidence of 20 DEG , maximum speed of the vehicle 80 km/h. Its constituent elements 1c are in the form of a channel section widening towards its opening, with a flat bottom 2c connected to flanges 3c which are extended by short and rounded returns 4c directed outwards, the depth of the element is approximately 25% greater than that of a motorway crash barrier element and the thickness of the steel sheets of the element is approximately half that of the sheet metal of a motorway crash barrier element. The element is preferably provided with stiffeners 9, 10 except at its ends by means of which it is fixed to a post and connected to the following element. <IMAGE>
