The installation is intended for premises such as shops, exhibition centres, entertainment halls, and the like, which can receive people to whom various products or services are offered, in the form of objects, possibly in the form of documents, these people being able to choose between these objects, examine them, pick them up, put them down or take them away. It is characterised in that it comprises, first, portable receiver/transmitters in the possession of people and capable of delivering encoded signals corresponding to the identification of each person, and, possibly, other characteristics relating to time, location or other data, secondly, sensitive transmitter/receivers 10 which can be connected by radio with the portable receiver/transmitters, thirdly, detectors 20 placed near supports B-D on which the objects A-E are arranged, and fourthly electronic devices 24 connected to the detectors 20, each of these devices 24 comprising either a link with an on-site analysis centre, or a link with a local base 27 connected by remote-transmission means 27a-C to a remote analysis centre, or means for remote transmission to a remote analysis centre, at least one buffer memory being preferably associated with the said electronic devices 24 or with the local base 27. <IMAGE>
