PURPOSE:To cause the contacting of a magnetic head main body and a disk to be satisfactory with a simple constitution by specifying the contacting area of the disk of a head slider. CONSTITUTION:A slider surface 14a of a magnetic head slider 14 is made into an elliptic shape in which the contacting area comes to be small in a direction A where an air flows in and flows out when a magnetic disk 12 is rotated. Consequently, a moment around a pivot P of a swinging member generated by a friction M of the surface 14a and the disk 12 is made significantly smaller than the moment generated by a reaction of the surface 14a and the disk 12. As the result, the contacting of a head main body 13 loaded to the slider 14 and the disk 12 comes to be satisfactory.
