摘要 PURPOSE:To realize such a fission type neutron detector that the sticking intensity of an uranium layer on an electrode surface is increased and characteristics are stable by sticking a titanium layer on an electrode base material made of iron-nickel alloy as the enclosure of a detector and sticking the uranium layer on this titanium layer. CONSTITUTION:The cathode base material 11 which serves as the enclosure of the detector is formed of a pipe made of stainless steel. The titanium layer 22 is stuck on its internal surface by vapor deposition, sputtering, VCD, or electroplating. The uranium layer is stuck on the titanium layer 22 by said method or a proper method such as brush coating to a thickness which is a small submultiple of that of the titanium layer 22. Then a high-temperature heat treatment is carried out at about 1,000 deg.C to form a titanium-uranium alloy layer 24 in the titanium layer 22. The thickness of this alloy layer 24 does not exceeds the range of the thickness of both layers 22 and 23 and the thickness of the alloy layer can be controlled substantially, thereby obtaining a neutron detector which has stable electric performance.
