PURPOSE:To enable lead extension to be treated automatically in an automatic winding machine to improve working efficiency, by holding an end of winding wound on a core to tension the same, and pressing it against a land of a printed circuit board formed integrally with the core while keeping the lead extension tensioned so as to solder it to the land. CONSTITUTION:An end of winding wound on a core is held at tension and pressed against a land 7e, 8e on a printed circuit board 7d, 8d provided integrally with the core while keeping it tensioned so that it is soldered to the land. An automatic winding machine is further provided with a gripping device 21 on which the core integral with the printed circuit board 7d, 8d is mounted. The gripping device 21 is provided with hooks 38 and 39 removably seating on a pressing seat 40 with a rotary plate 31 interposed. The gripping device 21 is further provided with a device contacting the lands 7d and 8d of the printed circuit boards 7d and 8d. In this manner, after the winding is wound on the core of a chip of a VCR head or the like, the lead extension can be automatically soldered on the land of the printed circuit board while keeping it tensioned. Thus, the product quality as well as the working efficiency can be improved.
