PURPOSE:To surely make the front end part of a blade adaptable to the surface of a photosensitive drum without requiring any extra operation by providing a timer which starts when a specific switch is depressed or when the power source is turned on and a means which reduces the rotating speed of the photosensitive drum to a constant speed or less during the operation of the timer. CONSTITUTION:A device which depresses the front end of the blade 2 against the surface of the photosensitive drum 1 rotating at the constant speed for a constant time after the power source and in a copying process is provided with the timer 11e which starts when the specific switch 11f is depressed or when the power source is turned on and the means which reduces the rotating speed of the photosensitive drum 1 to the constant speed or less during the operation of the timer 11e. Namely, the timer 11e starts when the specific switch 11f is pressed or when the power source is turned on and the photosensitive drum 1 rotates faster in the operation of the timer 11e than in the copying process. Consequently, even when the front end of the blade does not conform to the surface of the photosensitive drum 1, no large frictional force operates on the front end part owing because of the slow rotation of the photosensitive drum 1. The front end part of the blade conforms to the surface of the photosensitive drum while prevented from being inverted.
