PURPOSE:To simplify an optical system and to facilitate an alignment by providing a ceiling plate opposite to an original via a light collecting means and a light source and a couple of side plates opposed to each other via the light collecting means and the light source and provided in a direction perpendicular to the ceiling plate. CONSTITUTION:The read section is provided with the ceiling plate 21 and a frame 27 formed in its cross section as nearly pi-shape by the said ceiling plate 21 and parallel side plates 23, 25 provided perpendicularly thereto. The frame 27 is subjected to an alumite processing and the processing of electric insulation. A xenon discharging tube 29 is fixed in the storage space in the frame 27 with alignment. Moreover, a rod lens array 31 is fitted to one side plate 23 of the frame 27 and the light reflected on the original read face is collected among the radiated lights from the xenon discharging tube 29. An image sensor 41 is provided to the ceiling plate 21 of the frame 27 so that the photodetector 39 is opposed to a light guiding part 37.
