The manufacturing machine includes an output conveyor, for example a drum, which successively delivers the articles 3 one by one onto a stationary output table 4. The handling machine includes: means for counting the articles delivered to the output table; movable separating means 9 which are sensitive to the counting means and which include fingers or stylets 10 which can take up a position behind the last article of a batch delivered to the table in order to create a space between this last article and the first article of the next batch; means 11 for retaining the successive batches of articles 3 on the table 4; and a transfer drum 12, which rotates intermittently and always in the same direction and can pick up from the table 4 the complete batch of articles present between the retention means 11 and the separating means 9, this batch being spaced apart from the next batch, in order to bring the said complete batch into a substantially horizontal position on a second conveyor 13. <IMAGE>
