This invention relates to a display device which indicates the complex Korean alphabet and the Chinese alphabet by a cheap display device. This device presents a complex character in a simplified form. The character code from the controllers such as a processing device and a key input device is registered in the refresh memory (2) . The character code in the refresh memory is read according to the synchronization of the indication time in CRT (4). The characters which can be indicated by 16X16 bit are displayed as they are by the character generator (3) and the characters which can not be indicated by 16X16 bit are displayed by simplified forms.
