摘要 PURPOSE:To enable RCo5-type rare earth alloy powder to be manufactured without a crushing process which would cause oxidation or stress, by using Co powder having a specific average particle size as a material as said alloy powder. CONSTITUTION:Powder of an oxide of a rare earth element (designated by R), Co powder and a reducing agent are blended and mixed in predetermined proportions. The powder mixture is heated and reduced within an atmosphere of an inactive gas and subsequently the residual reducing agent is removed. The Co powder used as a material should have an average particle size of 1-8 mum. In this manner, RCo5-type rare earth alloy powder having an optimum average particle size of 3-10 mum can be manufactured without using a crushing process which would cause oxidation, strain or cracks of the powder. Further, after washing the alloy powder with water to remove the residual reducing agent, the alloy powder can be directly coated with an anti-oxidation film without being subjected to drying or particle size regulating process.
