The warning signal generator has elements for producing sound and a sound director whose outer opening is protected from water entry by webs. The webs (4) are perpendicular when the generator is installed and have a cross-section that tapers from the outside inwards. The webs are dimensioned and arranged in two rows one behind the other so that the outward wide part of the webs in one row lie opposite the gaps between webs in the other row.
