Process for manufacturing a rhenium-containing catalyst comprising three steps of: dry impregnation of an alumina-containing porous carrier, at a temperature lower than 80 DEG C., for at least 10 hours, first thermal treatment at 85 DEG -250 DEG C., and second thermal treatment at 400 DEG -1000 DEG C. The obtained catalyst can be used for producing olefins by metathesis of other olefins.
