PURPOSE:To control wood pulverization so as to maximize saccharification ratio, by roughly crushing wood, carrying out pretreatment for saccharification by compressing, pulverizing, pulverizing the crushed wood in a ball mill, etc., subjecting the pretreated wood flour to saccharifying reaction for a given time and changing various pulverization treating conditions according to the saccharification ratio. CONSTITUTION:Wood is roughly crushed, stored in a raw material feeder 1 then fed to a roller mill 2, compressed, pulverized, fed to a disintegrator 3 and disintegrated to provide wood flour, which is then classified in a classifier 4. Fine wood flour is partially fed to a particle size measuring instrument 6 by a sampler 5 and signals from the particle size measuring instrument 6 are fed back to a motor 7 of the classifier 4 to regulate the classification size. Furthermore, the sample is fed to a saccharification ratio measuring instrument 8 and subjected to saccharification treatment under the same condition as in the normal saccharification treatment for 1hr to measure the saccharification ratio. Signals thereof are then fed back to a pressurizing device 9 of the pulverizer 2 to carry out pulverization treatment of the wood while changing various pulverization treating conditions.
