A hydraulically actuated lockbolt collar cutter for removing a swaged collar (45, Fig 2) from a pin member (12, Fig. 2) of a lockbolt type fastener comprises a housing with a collar access opening 162 with two blades 188 spaced transversely and extending longitudinally with respect to the access opening. A slidable piston 80 carries a ram 120 opposed to the blades so that when, with a collar of a lockbolt fastener disposed in the access opening, the piston is actuated, the ram forces the collar into engagement with the two spaced blades to cause the blades to cut through the wall of and spread the collar to separate it into major and minor parts for removal from the pin member of the lockbolt type fastener. <IMAGE>
