Sound absorber for scenery

In the case of the sound absorber for scenery, consisting of several sound-absorbing surface elements (scenery) which are arranged at a distance from each other and parallel to the flow direction and subdivide a flow channel which opens into the open air into narrow part channels, the scenery is arranged and/or constructed in such a manner that in neighbouring part channels it impresses a phase difference on the sound waves which enter into the sound absorber for scenery, which phase difference causes a deflection of the sound radiation in a desired direction which is at an angle to the surface plane of the scenery, and/or suppresses the sound radiation in another lateral direction. The phase difference can be effected by different phase velocities in neighbouring part channels or by different phase shifts (phase rotations) by means of locally concentrated phase-shifting structural components in the scenery. <IMAGE>
