PURPOSE:To effectively correct deflection of a recording member by moving one end of a tension idle roll in parallel with the running direction of the recording member in accordance with detection result of deflection of the running recording member. CONSTITUTION:A tension idle roll 61 which applies tension to a running recording belt 27 is longer than the width of the belt 27. If the running belt 27 is very deflected right, a solenoid 72 is turned on by the detection signal of a detector 73. When the solenoid 72 is turned on, the right end of the roll 61 is moved downward and the roll 61 is inclined right downward. Thus, deflection is corrected to the left side. If the running belt is deflected left, a solenoid 71 is turned on the detection signal of a detector 74, and the roll 61 is inclined right upward. Thus, left deflection is corrected to the right side.
