The invention relates to an apparatus for maintaining clean air in the breathing area of a workplace, preferably a hairdresser's workplace. It is known that, when performing work, harmful substances can be released in the breathing area of the worker. In particular when cutting hair, fine hair ends are produced, and these, in addition to the frequently used hairspray, are an annoyance, if not hazard, to the hairdresser and customer. To overcome this disadvantage, it is proposed according to the invention that a filtering unit (1) is rotatably and/or movably arranged in the breathing area of the person attending or being attended to, with an air supply means (4) which is pivotably constructed and produces a continuous clean-air flow in the direction of a suction shaft (5).
