The boiler consists of a water-carrying housing in which a hot-water storage tank (6) and the storage part (4) are arranged above the firing part (3). To obtain a more controlled and largely unmixed circulation of different-temperature heat transfer medium currents within the housing (2) on the condition that the hot heat transfer medium is caused to flow directly against the lowest-lying flow-against surface region (5) of the storage tank (6), the boiler is constructed in such a way that an upward-flow opening (7) oriented on the lowest flow-against surface region (5) of the storage tank (6) and, on either side of this opening (7), in each case one backflow opening (8) for the heat transfer medium are arranged in the transition region (1) of the housing (2) from the firing part (3) to the storage part (4) situated thereabove. <IMAGE>
