Pipe with a widened, reinforced end, and apparatus for its production

For the production of pipes with a simultaneously widened and reinforced end, as are intended for use, in particular, for exhaust pipes in motor-vehicle engines and have to be connected to other components, e.g. silencers, it is proposed simultaneously to form, in a female die, a cylindrical pipe blank along with a reinforcing-ring blank, which is arranged concentrically at a radial distance from said pipe blank, by explosive action and also to weld them together over the surfaces. For cost-effective series production, the use of multiple female dies is proposed. <IMAGE>
