A roof substructure, which is made up of heat-insulating panels between roof battens and in the case of which the heat-insulating panels are laid in plastic troughs, has a special stepped-rebate configuration, in the case of which there is formed, in the under-engaging border of the stepped rebate, a channel, corresponding to the progression of which there is formed a water-guiding channel in the lateral stepped border of the adjacent plastic trough. Said water-guiding channel is continued over an eaves-side border portion of the plastic trough in order to ensure the continued channelling of penetrated water over the surfaces of the heat-insulating panels located therebeneath.
