摘要 PURPOSE:To analyze the image information of a microscope within a short time, by arranging a detection means for calculating the amount of a fibriform microorganism from the number of picture elements and a detection means for detecting the picture element with a second brightness level or less and calculating the amount of the flocculant microorganism from the number of the picture elements. CONSTITUTION:When a definite amount of a liquid to be examined containing activated sludge is collected on a preparation and microscopically examined in the bright field of an optical microscope 2, an original image having contrast can be fabricated. The original image has a dark part present in a liquid phase part B being a bright background. The dark part is a floc part Z and a fibri- form microorganism F. The image information obtained by a vidicon camera 3 is processed by an information processing apparatus 4 to display the amount of the fibrillar microorganism and the amount of a Zoogloea microorganism. A brightness information processing circuit 5 converts the brightness infromation from the vidicon camera 3 to a digital signal by A/D conversion. The liquid phase part B is high in brightness and the floc part Z shows a low brightness value.
