Special pliers (1) for removing a retaining plug from stick-shaped packages for electronic components, especially integrated circuits, with plier parts (2, 3) connected in a joint (4). One of the plier parts (3) has a projecting pressure piece (9) having a pressure surface (10) extending essentially parallel to the mid-plane (M) of the pliers (1). The other plier part has, opposite the pressure piece (9), a counterpiece (14) with a supporting surface (13) and with a receiving recess (12) for the retaining plug. With the pliers closed, the middle of the receiving recess (12) is located opposite the middle of the pressure piece (9).
