In a device for detecting faults which occur during the execution of control functions by means of a memory-programmed control (SPS) on a driverless transport vehicle, the vehicle being intended to carry out the control functions at predetermined locations, in the case of faults occurring on the vehicles during the execution of the control of the functions the fault search times are to be reduced. This is achieved in that a diagnostic program is input into the vehicle SPS, which program contains a sequence of test steps for the control functions such as testing of limit-position switches, engine protection, initiators, counting processes etc., in that the results obtained during the program run are compared with a fault table, the faults determined during the run are stored and are evaluated according to their disturbing effect and in that the fault or faults with the greatest disturbing effect are displayed.
