METHOD FOR IMPROVING QUALITY OF DISTILLED LIQUOR

PURPOSE:To safely purify a distilled liquor in a short time at a low cost without deteriorating the taste and flavor, by contacting a distilled liquor with an adsorbent consisting of a silica treated with an organic silane compound to obtain a purified liquor, contacting the used adsorbent with an aqueous solution of ethanol and reusing the regenerated adsorbent in the purification process. CONSTITUTION:A distilled liquor is purified by contacting with an adsorbent consisting of silica treated with an organic silane compound (preferably containing one or more 14-20C alkyl groups). The contacting process is carried out preferably by using a fixed-bed flow-type adsorption column. The used adsorbent is regenerated by being brought into contact with an aqueous solution of ethanol (preferably having an alcohol concentration higher than that of the distilled liquor) and reused in the purification process of the distilled liquor.
