PURPOSE:To extend the service life of a gas blowing nozzle and the vacuum treating vessel, by arranging inserting means of the nozzle for blowing gas into the vacuum treating vessel, capable of inserting it into the vacuum vessel in accordance with corrosion of the nozzle tip. CONSTITUTION:In order to prevent temp. falling of molten steel in the vacuum vessel 12 of for example, RH vacuum degassing apparatus, the gas blowing nozzle 26 blowing O2 gas in the vacuum vessel 12 is arranged as possible to insert in the vacuum vessel 12 at the tip thereof by the holding apparatus (inserting means) 28. A cylindrical body 36 having the same diameter with penetrating hole 34 on the iron shell 32 at outside of refractory 30 on the side wall 12a of vacuum vessel 12 is fixed by welding as the same axis as the penetrating hole 34, and a flange 38 is connected with the end part of cylindrical body, and a supporting member 40 supporting slidably the nozzle 26 is fixed on the flange. And, a cooling water flowing passage 42 and bolts 44 are arranged on the member 40 and the base end part of nozzle 26 is fixed and supported on the supporting member 46 supported by the bolts 44. In this constitution, the nozzle 26 is inserted into the vacuum vessel 12 in accordance with the corrosion of the nozzle tip.
