PURPOSE:To reduce the switching loss of a transistor inverter by reducing the value of a collector current flowing when a transistor is turned ON, OFF to a value which does not spoil the switching characteristic. CONSTITUTION:A transistor inverter has a full-wave rectifier 2 connected to an AC power source 1, a capacitor 30, a pair of switching transistors 10, 20, a pair of capacitors 31, 32, and an output transformer 60 to supply a power to an incandescent lamp 50. The capacities of the capacitors 31, 32 and the inductance value of the primary winding N1 of the transformer 60 are selectively set to increase a collector current and to decrease the collector current when the transistor 20 is turned OFF. Thus, the collector current when the transistors 10, 20 are turned ON to OFF is reduced to decrease a loss and to obtain a necessary lamp output.
