PURPOSE:To obtain the titled composition suitable for coatings for can inner surface of high quality in terms of flavor retentivity, water resistance, adhesivity, etc., by blending an acrylic resin-modified epoxy resin emulsion and a specific polyvinyl chloride latex in specified proportions. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition can be obtained by blending (A) an acrylic resin-modified epoxy resin emulsion (pref., a reaction product with an excess of the carboxyl group neutralized with basic compound, from aromatic epoxy resin and carboxyl group-contg. acrylic resin) and (B) a polyvinyl chloride latex (pref., with a particle size 0.05-1mum) with a polyvinyl chloride resin of a polymerization degree 1,000-2,000 as the resin component in the weight ratio A/B=5-95/95-5 (pref., 50-20/50-80) on a solid basis.
