PURPOSE:To enable a printing format to be modified on the printer side, by providing a printing part-controlling means with an input means for modifying printing conditions set by a host device, and a display device for displaying the modified parts and details of modification. CONSTITUTION:A host device comprises a printer-controlling part 1 and a main input means 1A. In a printer 2 operating by being energized by control codes outputted from the printer-controlling part 1, a printing part-controlling means 2B controls the driving of a printing part 2A. A second input means 2C is used for correcting or modifying the printing conditions inputted from the host device to the printing part-controlling means 2B. A 3-digit display device 2D sequentially displays the corrected or modified parts of the printing conditions and details of the correction or modification, which are set through the second input means 2C. The second input means 2C comprises, for example, a mode-selecting means 21 and a setting means 22 in a main body 20 of a casing, with a format mode selection switch 21A and a setting switch 22A provided on a console panel 20A.
