PRINTER CONTAINING RS-232C INTERFACE

PURPOSE:To turn on a power supply when a host is required by providing a power supply ON signal detecting circuit and an oscillation circuit at the primary side of power supply of a printer containing an RS-232C interface. CONSTITUTION:The reception data on RS-232C is inputted from a port 6. (A power supply ON request given from a host is decided by an arrangement when 1 is turned into 0). The signal of the port 6, if showing a power supply ON request, is detected by a detecting circuit 4 and an oscillation circuit 5 is actuated to drive a transistor 8. Thus the output voltage is supplied to the printer side from a transformer 7. In such a way, the power supply ON state of the printer can be freely controlled by the host.
