PURPOSE:To express the image of a shutter part with resulting high accuracy, by setting the cycle of the open/close operation of the shutter part by N-dividing one operating time of the shutter part in a liquid crystal device, and driving the shutter part by 2N-dividing one operating time further. CONSTITUTION:The shutter parts A1 and A2 are driven by setting a time divisional number N at 2 by N-dividing, that is bi-secting (1/2TW+1/2TW) the one operating period (one write period) TW (for example, 3m/sec) of the shutter parts A1 and A2, and furthermore, 2N-dividing the time divisional number 2, that is 2X2=4 division (1/4TW+1/4TW+1/4TW+1/4TW), and supplying a driving signal at every divided period. In such way, it is possible to form a shutter image in a prescribed size and exactly by the open/close operation of the shutter part of the liquid crystal device, and by applying it in the driving of the liquid crystal device used in an optical write type printer, it is possible to perform printing with high quality.
