PURPOSE:To prevent malfunction of a recorder due to mis-inserting of a control ROM to be replaced by providing a discrimination means for discriminating whether or not the control ROM loaded by an identification code in the recorder is matched with the recorder. CONSTITUTION:After power is turned on and the reset state of a MPU 1 is released, initial set or reset release control is applied and data is received externally to read an ID code of the ROM 3 before the print is started. Then it is discriminated whether or not the loaded ROM 3 is the ROM for the recorder and if the ROM differs, it is taken as an error, print data is not sent to a host computer 11 via an interface 8 and the ROM is the recorder ROM, then the printing is applied. The procedure is required to store in the ROM 2. Moreover, in order to discriminate whether or not the ROM 3 is the recorder ROM, the ID code of the ROM 3 is required to give to the ROM 2.
