PURPOSE:To reduce the power consumption by providing a photoelectric converting means where only light with the 2nd wavelengths after passing through a filter is incident between the filter and the internal wall surface of a backlighting body so as to supply photoelectromotive force to the display panel operating circuit of a main body side. CONSTITUTION:Only the light beta with the 2nd wavelength which is transmitted by the filter 4 is incident on the photoelectric converting means 5, which generates the photoelectric motor force with the incident light beta. This photoelectric converting means 5 is connected electrically to the circuit side for operating a display panel 1. Only light alpha with the 1st wavelength in light from a light source 3 is transmitted to the main body side through filters 4 and 7 and this light alpha is incident on the back surface side of the display panel 1 and used as light for displaying image information. Further, the light beta with the 2nd wavelength in the light from the light source 3 is supplied to the photoelectric converting means 5 through the filters 4 and 7, and incident on photoelectric converting means 5 to generate photoelectromotive force, which is supplied to the circuit for operating the display panel 1. Consequently, the light from the light source is used effectively and electric power which needs to be supplied to the circuit side can be saved.
