PURPOSE:To improve reliability of printing actions by securing such a constitution where the commands are not executed excluding a lock release command given from a control after a printer is once locked and the this lock state is sent back as a response. CONSTITUTION:A controller 10 gives the contents indicated for control of a printer 20 to a printer 20 through a command interface l1. The result of execution is sent back to the controller 10 via a response interface l2. A host interface 22 receives a command from the interface l1 and reads the lock information out of a lock state memory part 21 to inform the command to a control part 23 as long as the printer 20 is not locked. When the printer 20 is locked, the presence/absence of a lock release command is checked. If the lock release command is confirmed, this fact is information to the part 23. Otherwise a factor is set as a response to show a lock state of the printer 20 and sent back to the controller 10. Thus the relevant command is not executed. In such a way, the printing reliability is improved with the printer 20.
